We Voted!

This morning Epu rose before the alarm went off at 6 a.m. That sounds brutal until you remember that until Sunday, what we now call 6 a.m. was 7 a.m. He made coffee and went down to our local park district building. When the girls woke up, I slapped some shoes and socks on them and a pair of jeans on myself, packed snacks and headed down to the polls.

We left at 7 a.m. Our plan was to share the kids as we waited in our respective positions in line. But as we approached the polling place, we met Epu coming back. Nutmeg has been all about Daddy lately, so she opted to go home with Epu instead of continuing on to vote with me. I was kind of disappointed that she won't be able to say she was there "helping" me vote for this historic election; then again it was awfully nice to be able to relax and read my paper in line.

The line for our precinct was short, and I was home again by 7:30 a.m. Now, what? Twelve hours before we know anything? Twelve hours of watching TV news people chatter about how there's nothing to report. Well, maybe we'll know early. Here's hoping! Get out there and vote! It didn't hurt at all!

I'd invite you over to wait out the election, but no one is allowed no our street anymore. I barely made it past the police---thank goodness I had an Illinois vehicle registration in my car. It is going to be a challenging few weeks around here, not mention four years, if the good guys win.

voting in our precinct was pleasantly painless as well. things were extremely organized and we were in and out in less than ten minutes. hooray for democracy in action!!
