Deadline Approaching for Amazon Prime Free Trial

Commercial interruption: The Amazon one-month free trial offer that I've written about here before ends on Halloween. That is, you have to sign up here before Oct. 31 if you want free shipping at Amazon for a month, even if you don't spend $25.

I've found my Prime trial really handy for taking advantage of sales and getting some early Xmas presents. I signed up for the 3-month trial when it was available, but now only the one-month trial is being offered. Still -- one month from now is post-Thanksgiving, so you can conceivably use it to do your holiday shopping. Maybe it will motivate you to get done early for once. That's my theory, anyway.

Prime is also good for instant gratification, because you can upgrade to overnight shipping for just 4 bucks. For example, if you want to use Oprah's $50 off coupon code and buy a Kindle, if you sign up for Prime first you could be reading Oprah's latest book club selection on it by tomorrow.

And yes, either signing up for the free trial (which costs nothing but a minute or 2 of your time) or buying a Kindle (which costs a lot of money) helps support this site. And by "this site," I mean "me."

We will now return to your regularly scheduled programming.
