Yet another reason to get the sleep thing ironed out. A new study offers a strong correlation between sleeping less than 9-1/2 hours in third grade and being obese in sixth grade.
The article talks about the interaction between sleep and a couple of appetite-regulating hormones. I buy it. Then again, it's only a correlation, and I can think of lots of other explanations that are not directly causal: i.e. Parents who are not getting their kids enough sleep may also not be feeding their kids a healthy diet.
