Crime and Punishment

Today Nutmeg was having one of those days where she wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and will tantrum over everything. So it was no surprise that she started crying in the bathroom of Whole Foods because I indecorously tried to use the commode before she did (never mind the fact that she had just told me she didn't have to go). When the toilet paper dispenser unexpectedly fell off the wall, almost hit her head and slammed onto the bathroom floor, she became hysterical with shock and dismay. She hit me because I could not comply with her command to "put it back on the wall," so I had to put her in a 2-minute time out.

When we finally emerged from the single-occupancy restroom, there were about 3 women waiting in line, glaring at me. They probably thought I was beating the kid in there.

Please, ladies. Do you think I would beat my kid in the bathroom of Whole Foods? I would go to Aldi for that.

Never heard of Aldi.
But around here, it would be Walmart.

Hugs to you as you close in on the due date!

Hi there! I'm a fellow chicagoan (and can't remember how I found your blog) but I've been reading since about August 2006 and I'm in love. Though I'm not a mother myself (I'm an arts educator, so I'm around kids all the time), it helps hearing your real-life stories before my husband and I have children. I couldn't stay silent any longer. My husband and I died laughing at your Aldi crack!! It is the most hilarious thing I've ever "heard" on a blog.

For Moxie Mom and others, Aldi is way way skankier and low-down than WalMart (but it may have slightly better politics? probably not...).

Thanks for the laugh and the countless entertainment!
