Holy Crap

Great story by Vanessa Hua about desperate people going to China for organs that are most likely harvested from executed prisoners. As a phenomenon, this appalls me but I'm not surprised. It's just another example of the new world we live in, where the people who have been amassing all the capital now get all the stuff, including the health care.

On a personal level, I cannot say that I wouldn't do the same as the patient in the story, faced with death. Ethics are nice, but you know, if I got to live, I could always repent later in life. Shallow, I know -- but what would you do?
