Week 11: Last Thursday we went to our first appointment and heard the heartbeat! Dr. Kamali put a gel on my abdomen and slid around the microphone for the Doppler machine and kept saying, "Let me try again, I want to get it louder for you," but we didn't care, we were both on cloud 9 because we had both heard it. It was the first confirmation that there is really a living baby in me. Before this I kept thinking it could be an ectopic pregnancy or something else bad. But now, the doctor said, the chance of miscarriage is low now that we have heard the heartbeat.
She gave me a due date of April 25. Said she could feel my uterus sticking out a little. Sure enough, Erik measured my waist and it is about 1/2 inch bigger. This is despite losing 5 pounds during morning sickness.
Feel better now, although still really tired. Rock climbed with Bert this morning and did pretty well, back to 5.8s and 5.9s. I was out of breath after the harder ones though -- i've gotten out of shape with all the lying around.
